Centre-spout stand-up pouch

The centre-spout stand-up pouch is a resealable pack format that can be designed for liquid products. The contents are visible through the transparent surface, and the centrally placed spout provides access for filling and use. When filled, the gusset creates an upright shape, so the pack can be handled neatly both on the shelf and during use. The pouch material, the spout and the closure must be matched to the properties of the liquid.

Capacity and fill allowance

The centre-spout stand-up version can be chosen for 0.2, 0.3, 0.5 and 1 litre packs. The sizes include 107 × 125/27, 120 × 160/30, 133 × 190/35 and 180 × 210/40 mm. We agree the pack size based on the planned net fill, taking into account the required free headspace and the filling operation. The density of the liquid, any foaming and the filling temperature can also influence the practical choice of size, so it is worth checking the pack with a trial fill. Alongside the stated nominal capacity, ease of handling must be assessed on the filled pouch, using the chosen cap as well.

A central opening for filling and dispensing

The size of the spout and cap can be matched to the product and to manual or machine filling. A different opening may be convenient for thinner and thicker liquids, so pourability must also be considered when choosing. The centrally placed cap aligns opening and resealing with the vertical axis of the pouch. In the packaging process, the connection of the filling equipment, the handling of the cap and the checking of the closure must be planned together, so that the operation can be repeated reliably with the chosen pouch.

Material for the needs of the liquid

We determine the structure according to aroma protection, moisture protection and the filling process used. For hot filling or special packaging requirements, a suitable version must be agreed separately; the required properties are not the same for every pouch. The composition of the liquid and its contact with the packaging are also factors in the decision. The contents, the film, the spout and the closure together form the system we select for actual use.

A transparent pack with your own look

The pouch can be printed with your own artwork, and the design and colour of the cap can also be agreed. It is worth showing as much of the transparent surface as conveys the character of the product well; the fill level and the colour of the liquid will also be part of the look. The position of the markings must be designed for the filled, upright pack. The usage instructions should cover opening, resealing and storage after opening in a way that suits the specific product.
