Mono-material film roll
Mono-material plastic film.
Full description
When choosing a mono-material film roll, we build the structure of the packaging material around a single material family. The PE/PE, PET/PET and PP/PP versions provide a starting point for different packaging tasks, according to the required properties and machine processing. This approach can be useful if you would like to redesign your existing reel packaging, or are looking for a deliberately structured material for a new product. We choose the right solution with knowledge of the complete finished pack and the packaging line.
PE/PE structure for sealing requirements
With polyethylene-based film, sealability is an important selection criterion. A suitable version can also be agreed for aroma and other product protection requirements, or for vacuum packaging, based on the suitability of the specific variant. Your own artwork can also be created with printing between the layers. When switching, the sealing settings and film guidance of the existing machine must be checked with the new structure. The product, the pack format and the desired seal together determine which polyethylene-based version may be suitable.
PET/PET version for visible products
The PET-based mono-material structure can offer a solution for presenting the product in a transparent pack. We choose the specific variant for the planned protective function and packaging process. Besides the material designation, the function of the layers and the sealing method are also essential, so the complete technical design must be agreed. When replacing an existing pouch or film, a clear appearance, machine running and the handling of the finished pack must all be checked. These show how the PET/PET structure suits the product.
PP/PP version for various tasks
The polypropylene-based mono-material film can be chosen for different pack formats. In a suitable version, lidding film for PP trays can also be produced, but exact sealability must be checked together with the tray surface and the machine. Forming pouches from reel stock brings different considerations to the fore than tray sealing, so it is advisable to state the intended use when requesting a quote. We match the film width, winding and printing requirements to this packaging task.
The composition of the whole pack matters
The mono-material structure is best designed together with all elements of the packaging. The print, adhesive, label and any closure can also affect how the finished pack can be processed in waste management. Assessing recyclability requires knowledge of the exact composition and the available collection and sorting system. When switching materials, the pack as a whole must be examined while product protection and machine operation are checked, so the choice can be well founded from several points of view.
To agree a mono-material film roll, please send us the details or a sample of your current packaging material, the product characteristics and the type of machine. We choose the PE/PE, PET/PET or PP/PP route based on the required seal, appearance and use. At Kollár Pakk we link the redesign of the material structure to the actual packaging task.
