Mono-material polyethylene stand-up press-to-close pouch
Stand-up and stand-up press-to-close pouch made from 100% recyclable material.
Full description
The mono-material polyethylene stand-up press-to-close pouch is a packaging option in which both the film and the press-to-close zip of the pouch are based on the polyethylene material family. The upright shape and resealability serve familiar customer use, while the material choice puts the emphasis on the composition of the whole pack. This version is particularly interesting if you would like to develop a product's existing pouch further by deliberately changing its material structure.
One material family in the pouch
The mono-material design combines polyethylene film with a polyethylene press-to-close zip. The underlying principle is to reduce the combined use of different material families while retaining the required packaging functions. When selecting the final structure, the characteristics of the fill, the mechanical stresses and the sealing process all matter. The wall thickness and the proportions of the pouch must be chosen for the product, because the mono-material designation alone does not indicate the load-bearing capacity or sealing performance of the pack.
Protection requirements and sealing
Within the polyethylene-based range, a suitable structure can also be agreed based on aroma and moisture barrier considerations or vacuum packaging requirements. We always examine suitability for the specific variant. Heat sealability is an important advantage, which can be exploited with the right sealing equipment settings and a clean sealing surface. When switching materials, it is advisable to carry out a filling and sealing trial, and then check the seal and the behaviour of the pouch in the expected situations of transport, storage and use.
Print and accessories in harmony
The pouch can also be made with artwork printed between the layers. We design the brand's look, the colour scheme and the product information together with the chosen film structure. If a separate label or other accessory goes on the pack, its material and attachment should also be clarified at the outset. To assess actual recyclability, the composition of the whole pack and the available collection, sorting and processing systems must be taken into account; the PE designation alone is not sufficient.
Switching from an existing pack
If you already use a stand-up press-to-close pouch, the original sample can help define the size and usage requirements. The fill volume, the shape of the gusset, the accessibility of the opening and the operation of the zip must be checked again with the new material. A packing trial also shows how the mono-material pouch can be fitted into the existing filling workflow. In this way, the change becomes a well-considered decision for both the product and the packing site. Comparing samples of the previous and the new pack helps assess the changes that matter for use.
Please send us the size or a sample of your existing packaging, the fill details and the sealing method. Starting from these, we agree the design of the mono-material polyethylene stand-up press-to-close pouch. At Kollár Pakk we consider material choice together with the required product protection, manufacturability and customer use.
