The Flo shrink-wrapping machine offers a solution for producing film packs formed around discrete products. The machine seals and cuts the film with an L-shaped, vertically moving seal bar, after which the packaging material can be conformed to the shape of the product in a suitable shrink unit. The machine design can be planned together with product conveying and the shrinking method. The Flo can be ordered both in a compact version combined with the shrink tunnel and with a separately built shrink unit.
L-shaped seal bar for sealing the film
The 450 × 600 mm seal bar seals and cuts the film. Its vertical movement supports even contact across the sealing surface. For a good result, the film type, size and settings must be selected together with the product. The material allowance around the pack must be sufficient for sealing and subsequent shrinking. During the trial, it is worth checking the continuity of the seams, how the corners form and the amount of film remaining around the product.
A machine adaptable to product handling
Infeed and outfeed conveyors designed for the task, as well as product supports and guide elements, can be connected to the machine. For vegetables, bakery products or other discrete products, the shape and fragility determine the right conveying method. The design of the transfer between belts ensures smooth product flow. When planning the machine, it must also be considered how the goods arrive before packaging and how the finished pack moves on. The dosing routine also affects actual output.
Size and film for the complete pack
The specified maximum product size is 350 mm wide, 500 mm long and 150 mm high. The film width is 550 mm, and the specified roll diameter is 350 mm. These limits must be assessed together with the shape of the product and the necessary film allowance. Taller or irregular shapes require a different material arrangement from a flat box. The selected shrink film must suit both machine sealing and the planned shrinking conditions, so it is advisable to verify the final combination with a trial.
Compact or separate shrink tunnel
The choice between the combined design and a separate shrink tunnel depends on the plant layout and the planned use of the equipment. A separate tunnel can be advisable if it is also intended for other packaging tasks. The machine requires a 400 V three-phase electrical supply and air at 6 bar. The final installation requirements must be agreed for the selected configuration. When planning space requirements, we also take operation and maintenance access into account.
