Perforated pouch
Transparent perforated pouch for packing products that need ventilation.
Full description
The perforated pouch is transparent packaging for products where ventilation is also part of the packaging task. The holes in the film create a direct connection between the inside of the pack and its surroundings. The transparent surface shows the contents, while the pouch holds the product together in a manageable pack. When choosing the right version, the desired air exchange must be weighed together with moisture loss and storage conditions.
Ventilation across the pack surface
The position, number and size of the perforations affect how large an open area the product has in contact with its surroundings. We therefore choose the perforated pouch for tasks where air exchange is desirable. Because of the holes, the pack stays in contact with the outside air, which must also be taken into account when planning product storage. For the decision, it is useful to know in what condition and at what temperature the product goes into the pouch, and in what environment it awaits sale or use. The surfaces of the pack in contact with other pouches must also be considered when planning ventilation.
The balance of moisture and texture
The possibility of ventilation also means that moisture can be exchanged more easily between the pack and its surroundings. The result depends on the properties of the fill and the environmental conditions, so the perforation should be chosen for the product. A different solution may suit a product sensitive to excessive drying than a fill where trapped moisture is the problem. A trial pack in the real environment helps assess the texture and the appearance of the pack.
A visible, manageable pack
The transparent pouch also shows the shape and colour of the packed product. When choosing the size, the arrangement of the contents and the space needed for sealing must be examined together. With chunky fills, it is important that the pack is not strained at the edges and that the product can be placed in it gently. The layout of the perforations can be designed in coordination with the actual placement of the product. The position of the label or other markings should be chosen so that the intended ventilation area keeps its function.
Fitting into the workflow
We choose the perforated pouch as part of the filling, handling and storage routine. The packaging makes it easier to keep portions together, while the clean environment and temperature required for the product must be ensured throughout the whole process. When designing the outer packaging, it also matters that the ventilation of the pouch works as intended. Before introduction, it is worth checking how the finished pouches sit next to each other and what mechanical loads they receive during handling.
To agree a perforated pouch, please tell us the product to be packed, the quantity and the purpose of ventilation. Please also give us the filling and storage conditions, and the desired pouch size if already known. On this basis, at Kollár Pakk we refine the design so that the perforated packaging meets the real needs of the product.
