PP tray with lid
Hot-fill tray + lid.
Full description
The PP tray with lid offers a solution for portioning and selling foods where rigid packaging and simple manual closing are important. The polypropylene tray comes with a snap-on lid, so no lidding film needs to be sealed on during packing. The design is particularly useful for lard and other products that are hot when filled and solidify later, provided that the nature of the product and the method of transport suit this type of closure.
From hot filling to chilled storage
The PP tray can be hot filled, and our range includes versions suitable for microwave heating, freezing and blast chilling. When selecting, it is worth reviewing the entire process of use: at what temperature the food goes in, how it is cooled, and whether the customer will later heat it in the pack. The suitability of the tray and the lid must be determined together. We always match the temperature and time conditions of the specific use to the given version.
A size that suits the right portion
The versions of different depths are available with capacities between 125 and 1350 ml. When choosing the size, besides the filled quantity, space must be left for the lid to fit properly. A thick cream, a product in pieces and a fat that sets after cooling fill the same tray differently. With a transparent or cream appearance, the packaging can be matched to the character of the product and the design of the label. With the translucent version, the filled product itself becomes part of the presentation.
Closing with a snap-on lid
The snap-on lid is quick to fit, but the closure is not leak-proof. For liquid products, transport with strong tilting or tasks where leak-tightness is essential, a different closing solution is required. The lid must be pressed into place around its entire perimeter, and any product on the rim must be removed before closing. The packaging has no built-in tamper-evident closure. If visible evidence of opening is required, it can be achieved with a suitable label spanning the joint between tray and lid.
Packing that is easy to organise
The system with a separate lid can also be used at a manual filling station, but the storage of trays and lids must be coordinated. Handling components of the same size together helps avoid mismatching. The label position should be chosen so that product data remains legible and the label does not unnecessarily obstruct opening the lid. A transport trial can check how the filled tray behaves in the actual outer packaging, especially with stacked portions.
To choose the right PP tray, please tell us your product, the required fill quantity and the heat treatment or chilling process after filling. Based on this, our colleagues will help you put together the requirements for the tray, the matching lid and labelling. This way the packaging suits both your daily workflow and the conditions of sale.
