Boxer 42 XL Biactive tabletop chamber vacuum machine

The Boxer 42 XL Biactive tabletop chamber vacuum machine is designed for sealing pouches where applying heat from both sides plays a particular role. With thicker vacuum pouches and suitable multilayer materials containing aluminium, the choice of sealing system is decisive. We therefore recommend evaluating this model primarily together with the specific packaging material.

Sealing heated from both sides

In the Biactive design, there is a 5 mm heating band both in the chamber and in the lid, so the part of the pouch to be sealed receives heat from both sides. The solution can also be considered for pouches thicker than 200 micrometres and for suitable aluminium triplex pouches. Suitability, however, is not decided by total thickness alone: the layer sequence, the sealable inner surface and any multiple overlaps of material also influence the seal. With a new material, the right setting must be established and checked with trial seals.

Working space for special pouches

The chamber measures 460 × 420 × 120 mm and the seal bar is 420 mm long. The external dimensions of the unit are 490 × 610 × 420 mm, and the nominal capacity of its pump is 21 m³/h. The chamber height is particularly important if a stiffer pouch bends around the product in a wider curve. The filled pack should therefore be checked in its actual shape before sealing. The pouch mouth must lie smoothly at the sealing position; a fold or crease on the sealing surface can cause faults even with thicker materials.

Setting and checking together

Time control or sensor control can be chosen, and program management helps with recurring product and pouch combinations. When establishing the parameters, vacuum packing and sealing must also be assessed separately. Even a properly evacuated pack can have a weak seal if the heat input does not suit the material. It is advisable to record the exact type of pouch, the setting and the method of checking the finished seal. When changing material supplier or structure, previously established parameters must be confirmed again by a trial.

A version chosen for the task

Cleaning the stainless steel housing and the chamber, and caring for the sealing area, are part of daily use. With the Biactive system, attention must be paid to the condition of the components working on both sides. An inclined insert for packs with liquid and a connector for suitable external containers can be agreed. For technical products, the further protective properties of the pouch must be specified separately; aluminium content or two-sided sealing does not in itself verify every application requirement. Examining the machine version and the material together provides a sound basis for the decision.
