Mono-material polyethylene vacuum pouch
100% recyclable, vacuum-capable aroma barrier vacuum pouch made from polyethylene
Full description
The mono-material polyethylene vacuum pouch is a PE-based packaging solution in which vacuum suitability and a deliberate choice of material structure play a role together. The improved polyethylene structure makes it possible to create a pouch that provides the sealing and protective properties required for the given product. We therefore select the version based on the contents and the packaging technology.
Choosing the right PE structure
The aim of the mono-material solution is to base the design of the packaging material on a single material family. However, different types of polyethylene can provide different properties, so the requirements for aroma protection, moisture protection and mechanical stress must be defined separately. We evaluate the structure recommended for the application across the finished pouch as a whole. In addition to the name of the material, the film thickness, the seal design and the actual packaging conditions also affect the result.
Sealing and mechanical load
Proper sealing of the PE-based pouch helps the closure remain intact under the weight of the contents and the stresses arising during handling. To achieve this, the seal area must be clean and free of creases, and the machine settings must be adjusted to the chosen material. In addition to the fill weight, the corners and protruding parts of the product and the shape formed under vacuum also count. A larger pouch alone does not solve every load issue: the right version is revealed by a filling, sealing and handling trial with the actual goods.
Printing between the layers
The right PE structure also offers the option of printing between the layers. This allows the pouch to carry your own artwork, product name and brand mark, and the presentation can be designed for the shape of the finished pack. With vacuum-packed products, it is particularly worth paying attention to the position of text and important markings, because the film follows the surface of the contents. We agree the print design together with the structure, so that the graphic concept and the technical performance of the packaging are in harmony. When trialling the printed pouch, we also examine the position of the artwork on the sealed pack. The information on the front and back can thus remain clear in the planned storage and display position as well.
The practical side of material selection
If one of the goals of the packaging programme is to use mono-materials, it is worth comparing the PE vacuum pouch with the existing product protection and production process. During the switch, it must also be examined how the new pouch performs on your own machine and in your usual logistics. Handling after use also depends on local collection and processing options. The documentation of the specific version provides the proper basis for the material and environmental information stated on the packaging.
To introduce a mono-material polyethylene pouch, please send us the details of your current packaging, the product, the machine type and the change you wish to achieve. On this basis, we can coordinate the size, the closure and the desired presentation. A product sample trial helps ensure that the choice also works properly in your daily packaging tasks.
