Universal peelable lidding film for sealable trays

The universal peelable lidding film for sealable trays can be a good choice if your packing site works with several tray materials. The transparent film has a peel seal, so it can be peeled off the tray rim when used. It can also be agreed for PP, PVC, PS, PE and PET-based sealing surfaces, for applications verified with the specific tray. The aim of the wider material range is to harmonise tray packaging while retaining a proper seal and convenient opening.

Several trays in one workflow

The universal character is particularly interesting where several types of tray are used for different dishes. Actual sealability is determined by the surface in contact with the rim and its design, so every tray used must be identified. A different coating, geometry or rim width may require different settings. A sealing trial with the chosen film helps establish which combinations can share a common material and where different machine parameters need to be recorded. The recorded settings also help with checks after a tray change.

A peelable seal for the customer

Peeling off the lid is part of using the pack, so we also examine the seal design from the point of view of ease of opening. Even separation, a film area that is easy to grip and the seal strength needed during handling are all important. Fill getting onto the rim can affect sealing, so the dosing routine must be matched to the shape of the tray. This lidding film is made for conventional tray packaging without modified atmosphere; product storage must be planned accordingly, in line with the food's own requirements.

A reel sized for the machine

The film is available with a thickness of 57 microns, in 250-metre reels 150, 160 or 250 mm wide. It can be agreed for semi-automatic and automatic packaging workflows, and can be used with contour cutting on a suitable machine. Besides the tray size, the layout of the sealing tool and the needs of film guidance also matter when choosing the width. The settings must be checked together with reel running and cutting, so that the appearance and ease of opening of the finished packs stay consistent.

Transparent lidding and printing

The transparent surface shows the food placed in the tray, and your own print can help identify the product. If you would like to use the same artwork for several tray types, it is worth checking the print design on every size concerned. The product name and important markings must remain in an easily legible position after contour cutting. We design the proportions of visible food, branding and the area needed for opening together, matched to the actual machine layout.
