Polar 2-40 floor-standing double-chamber vacuum machine

The Polar 2-40 floor-standing double-chamber vacuum machine offers a stainless steel design for production packaging based on alternate loading. Using the two chambers, preparation of the next batch can be matched to the vacuum cycle in progress. This model is worth considering for tasks where packs arrive in organised batches and the onward handling of finished goods can also be planned.

620 mm sealing in two chambers

The chamber size is 620 × 400 × 240 mm, and the seal arrangement consists of two 620 mm seal bars at the front and back. The 400 mm chamber dimension must be compared with the combined space required by the product and the part of the pouch needed for sealing. It is advisable to test the orientation and number of packs with a real load. Using the same loading routine for both chambers helps give the operator a clear task at every changeover. Filler plates can adjust the position of lower packs to the right sealing height.

Alternating work with organised material supply

The machine operates with a pump of 63 m³/h nominal capacity, and its external dimensions are 1545 × 790 × 1090 mm. A 400 V connection is required for installation. In double-chamber operation, the location of pre-filled pouches and the removal of sealed packs are particularly important. If there is no suitable set-down surface for one of the operations, switching between the chambers may also falter. It is worth deciding in advance from which side the goods arrive, where the next load is prepared and who checks the seal. Together with the machine cycle, these tasks determine the daily pace.

Stainless steel workspace, accessible sealing elements

The Polar 2-40 has a stainless steel housing, a flat stainless steel vacuum surface and a stainless steel lid. The seal bars are located in the lid, and the silicone supports are removable. The cleaning routine should include both chambers and every sealing position in use. The pouch mouth must be placed without creases or product residue, and the seal result must be checked regularly. The pump maintenance programme is part of operation; care of the chamber and the prescribed service tasks are required regardless.

Programmes and material-specific sealing

Time-controlled or sensor control and management of several programmes can be agreed. The seal can be a double seal, seal/cut-off, wide seal or a bi-active solution selected for the given pouch. Gas flush requires a suitable configuration, while soft-air provides controlled air return. The programme for recurring products must also be assigned to the packaging material and the layout used in the chamber. When changing material, it is advisable to verify the previous setting on a new pack, in both chambers.

• Bi-active seal: 1 x 5 mm flat sealing wire both in the vacuum chamber and in the lid. This makes it possible to seal vacuum pouches thicker than 200 µm as well as aluminium triplex pouches.
