Valve pouch
Any of our pouches can be fitted with a one-way valve that releases gas building up inside the pouch while keeping air out of the sealed pouch.
Full description
The valve pouch is made for packing products that release gas after sealing. A typical use is roasted coffee, where besides the packaging material, allowing the gas to escape is also a design task. The one-way valve lets the internal gas escape while limiting the return of outside air. We fit the valve into the pouch format and material structure chosen for your product, so gas management becomes part of the overall packaging concept.
A solution chosen for gas release
Gas release that continues after packing should be taken into account when matching the product and the pouch. For coffee, the workflow between roasting and packing and whether the coffee is whole bean or ground are also key details for the discussion. The valve provides the route for gas to escape, while aroma protection is provided by the film structure chosen for it and by the seals. These must be defined together so that the pouch suits the filled quantity and the storage conditions.
A valve in various pouch formats
Valve designs can be agreed for various formats and materials among Kollár Pakk's own pouches. Stand-up and side-gusseted packs offer different surfaces and folds, so we plan the valve position based on the filled pouch. When choosing the position, the fill level, the seals and the way the pack is used must be taken into account. The valve is best fitted so that the product, the artwork and other packaging elements also remain neatly arranged. We also mark the valve position on the final artwork design.
Filling and checking in practice
During the packing trial, it is worth examining not just the pouch size but the complete design including the valve. It matters how the product goes into the pouch, whether enough space is left for the seal, and what stresses the pack is exposed to. With fine granular or dusty fills, the cleanliness of the area around the valve must also be considered during selection. Planning the outer packaging and the palletising arrangement helps the valve pouch fit properly into the transport process as well.
Product presentation and customer use
The valve adds a technical function to the chosen pack format. Meanwhile, the exterior of the pouch can follow the brand identity, and the format can be matched to the pack size. If a press-to-close zip is also part of the design, its use and the function of the valve should appear separately in the customer information. Storage after opening must always be specified for the product. Marking the valve position in advance in the artwork design helps important text and images remain clearly legible.
For a valve pouch, we need the product name, its condition, the fill weight and the desired pouch format. For coffee, it is also worth describing the planned workflow from roasting to packing. Starting from these, we agree the film structure, the valve position and the seal. The aim is a pack that takes both gas release and the appearance of the product into account.
